‘Best Practice, Barriers and Breakthroughs’
“The biggest programme of reform in education, health and support for
children with special educational needs and disabilities in 30 years.” The
Children and Families Bill will become law as soon as Spring 2014.
The reforms will affect all of us working with children and young people aged 0-25 years
with special educational needs and disabilities.
As the Bill makes its journey through Parliament and the Pathfinders continue, we are
holding two seminars in September 2013 to bring together professionals in Health,
Social Care and Education, also Parents, Parent Forums and Social enterprises.
Seminar 1
On September 18th for all parents, carers and support organisations. We
will hear about ‘best practice, barriers and breakthroughs’ from parents and others
on the Pathfinder groups. Together we will share experience and set out our Vision, to
carry forward to Seminar 2.
Seminar 2
On September 25th for professionals in the Key sectors of Health, Social
Care and Education together with those voluntary organisations, charities and social
enterprises working in these sectors to discuss ‘best practice, barriers and
breakthroughs’.
We are delighted that Michael Cotton has agreed to be our Keynote speaker for
Seminar 2. Michael Cotton is the Principal Educational Psychologist for North
Yorkshire County Council, the Pathfinder Champion for Yorkshire and The Humber.
The 9 regional Pathfinder Champions have been chosen to lead the debate and
planning, engendering dialogue between key sectors to enable effective change, and
delivery of health, social care and education services to the SEN sector.
